Parmesan Crusted Mozzarella Sticks with Homemade Marinara Sauce are a delicious and crispy appetizer. Stringy mozzarella cheese is coated in a parmesan and breadcrumb crust and served with a tangy tomato sauce.

Ingredients
2 dozen string cheeses
- 2 cups panko
- 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp salt (divided)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp pepper
- Oil for frying
28oz can San Marzano tomatoes
- 1/2 Tbs. olive oil.
- 8oz can tomato sauce
- 4 garlic cloves
- 3 tsp. sugar (or honey)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Lots of pepper

1/2 tsp. Johnny’s Seasoning Salt
- 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
- Handful (approximately 1/2 cup) fresh basil, chopped

Homemade Marinara Sauce
Directions
Parmesan Crusted Mozzarella Sticks
- Heat oil to 375°
- In three separate bowls.
- First bowl, mix panko, Parmesan, garlic powder and salt.
- Second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Third bowl, mix flour, 1 tsp, salt, pepper.
- Take string cheese sticks and dredge them in flour mixture, shaking off access flour. Dip into egg mixture, then into Parmesan mixture. Set aside and repeat with remaining string cheese sticks.
- Place your battered string cheese in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.
- Once out of the freezer, fry for 2-3 minutes or just until golden brown.
- Serve with a side of Homemade Marinara Sauce.
Homemade Marinara Sauce
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan on medium-low heat. Stir in garlic and sauté for approximately 1-2 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Carefully blend with a hand mixer until desired consistency.
